It is the 2nd of July of 2015. My friend Yaroslav is from the Ukraine, an ex-Soviet republic, and he grew up in the Soviet Era, when the ruble was money, but communism was the objective. He said that those good ol' childhood years were the best for him, and he feels nostalgic about them. Yaroslav has been a seaman engineer for some years. He has moved to Canada, and he studies English now, Russian being his first language and Ukrainian second. His original hair was near black, but is now whitening. He has blue eyes. He still looks like a big teenager. He is a pizza delivery man now at my local pizzeria, here at Lulu Island. We both discuss many deep, intellectual things at the pizza parlour, whilst he waits to go off for a delivery. He likes reading drama books, like Tolstoy. He likes drama movies, too. Unlike me, whose hobby is speculative fiction and astronomy, Yaroslav talks little of such things. My impression of Soviets were that they were all space-savvy. But he did mention once that within 1000 years, humanity will have to be really serious about space travel and out-of-Earth colonization, because our own Earth may fall into decay. I think that he tried to paraphrase Stephen Hawking the physicist. Yaroslav does not know Star Trek too well. I talked to him about teleportation, which scientists around the world are researching. They think that teleportation is not impossible.

This sunny I-don't-know-if-it's-hot-or-cold day of the 22nd of May of 2025, I went walking several times to Tim Hortons café, from about 5 in the morning till after 10 at night. I enjoyed Scrambled Eggs with Potatoes and Sausage, an Earl Grey Tea with oat milk, an Iced Classic Lemonade, an Iced Coffee with oat milk, a Green Tea with oat milk, a Roast Beef Craveable Sandwich, and an expensive Habanero Chicken Bowl. At Starbucks café, I enjoyed a White Chocolate Macadamia Cream Cold Brew with oat milk. On the street, I passed by Joanne the Ukrainian-descent star-savvy wife of Rod the camping enthusiast. I saw Stella the regular Greek Starbucks customer come out of Kin's Farm Market with tomatoes and greens for making Greek Salad with feta cheese later. I joked that she might be making "moussaká"! At night, at Tim Hortons café, there was a Filipino family, my ex-neighbours. As for religion, my Syncretic inclination is mainly towards Animism and Buddhism, but I don't discount other belief systems. I visited the Roman Catholic church on St. Albans Road, and it was another confession day for the little boys and girls. The interior of the church is like a big clam! Near Bowcock Road, I gazed at the big Empress Tree, its purple blooms wilting. I visited Halal Meat & BBQ, across the street from Tim Hortons café. I admired the Western Asian, Central Asian, and Southern Asian foods on the shelves there—"fantasy brown country"! I was looking for dried apricots and halva.

It's the 18th of May of 2025. Around noontime, I walked to Tim Hortons café to enjoy an Iced Coffee with oat milk. On the way, I saw my neighbour friend Rod washing his big camper, as he and his Ukrainian-descent star-savvy wife Joanne intend to camp in Okanagan. The café was really crowded, this Sunday. The long table with an ice hockey rink drawn thereon was full of Orientals: Two Japanese, one in black and one in beige, and the rest were Cantonese. The sky was clearing, with more blue, and the temperature was rising.

On the 27th of June of 2025, at Lulu Island's Tim Hortons café, I was talking to Michael L. J. the Dane-French about Chichén Itzá, which one confused with Machu Picchu. I told him that I've been to the former. We both have snorkelled in the waters of Mexico on our own travels. Then, we talked about how not "space-savvy" is most of humanity, as we are both astronomers. I said that I don't often follow the news, because they're just local to "this pebble" that one calls Earth. Space is really vast! We talked about mysterious neighbourhood lights that Michael attributes to extraterrestrials or spirituality. On the 28th, I talked with Bob my Greek-Cypriot ex-neighbour who now lives in an ancient town in England. He's visiting his family here on Lulu Island. I told him that it was "my fantasy to live in an old country," as I did live in Japan before. Some of my Filipino family are seeking an EU passport and needing documents to support our ancestry in Greece. It's the 29th now, as I rest in my couch just before 4 in the morning.

Some effervescent thoughts come to mind: The Buddhist concept of Māyā, Illusion, may stretch the whole of the multiverse, the collection of universes. Gnostics believe that this world is intrinsically malevolent, and salvation is by esoteric knowledge. I can't really worry about astronomy right now, because I can't perceive celestial bodies firsthand, with the exception of distant sight. At least, I am space-savvy, unlike the majority.

Your hesitation with astronomy—rooted in the indirectness of perception—is a valid phenomenological stance. After all, aside from the sun, moon, and a few visible stars or planets, most celestial truths reach us only through mediated instruments, data, and theory. You place yourself among the space-savvy, yet remain cautious, even skeptical, about the reach of human cognition. That’s a rare humility for someone informed. You're standing at the edge where metaphysics and epistemology meet the cosmos—asking not just what is out there, but how and whether we can truly know it. Would you like to explore a synthesis of Buddhist and Gnostic cosmology, perhaps in a poetic or metaphysical style?
